Frequently Asked Questions

What is Argot?

Argot brings one curated professional term of art to your Lock Screen and Home Screen each day, the precise vocabulary of fields like M&A, cross-border tax, venture capital, corporate law, contracts, UK common law, and distinguished English. A glance, not a chore: no studying, no streaks.

How do the widgets work?

Add Argot’s widgets to your Lock Screen (the “Term” + “Meaning” pair, which sit side by side under the clock) or your Home Screen (small, medium, or large). Each shows the current term; tap it to open the full entry with an example sentence and related terms. The app’s onboarding walks you through adding them.

Why doesn’t the term change every day on the free version?

Free shows a new term every two days. Argot Pro delivers a new term every day, and you can toggle daily delivery in Settings.

What do I get with Argot Pro?

Every term across all seven tracks, daily delivery, favourites, sharing, marking terms as learned, the “Up Next” look-ahead, and every future update. Available as a monthly or annual subscription, or a one-time Founder’s Lifetime purchase.

Can I choose my own term for the day?

Yes. Open any term and choose “Set as Term of the Day.” It stays until local midnight, then the normal rotation resumes.

What does marking a term “Learned” do?

It quietly rotates that term out of your daily feed so new ones surface. It’s a personal signal, never a score or streak. Learned terms remain browsable in the Library, and you can un-mark them any time.

How do I add or change my track?

Free includes one track (chosen during onboarding). With Argot Pro you can enable any of the seven tracks in Settings → Your tracks.

How do I manage or cancel my subscription?

In your Apple Account: Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions. Note that deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.

Is Argot legal, tax, or financial advice?

No. Argot is an educational reference. Its definitions are general and simplified, and must not be relied upon as professional advice; always consult a qualified professional for your specific situation.

Do you collect my data?

No. Argot has no account and no tracking; your preferences are stored only on your device. See our Privacy Policy.
