Terms of Use
Last updated: 7 June 2026
These Terms govern your use of the Argot app, operated by its developer (“we”, “us”, “our”). By downloading or using Argot, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
1. Licence
We grant you a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive licence to use Argot on Apple devices that you own or control. Your use is also subject to Apple’s standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement, which is incorporated by reference. These Terms supplement that agreement; if they conflict, these Terms govern, except where Apple’s terms must prevail.
2. Argot is not professional advice
Argot is an educational reference. Its definitions and examples describe terms of art in fields such as law, tax, finance, and corporate practice in general, simplified terms.
They are not legal, tax, financial, accounting, or other professional advice, and must not be relied upon as such. Always consult a suitably qualified professional about your specific circumstances. We do not warrant that any definition is complete, current, or applicable to a particular matter, and we are not responsible for decisions made in reliance on the content.
3. Subscriptions and purchases
Argot offers a free tier, an auto-renewable Argot Pro subscription (monthly or annual), and a one-time Founder’s Lifetime purchase.
- Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation of purchase.
- Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your Apple Account is charged for renewal within the 24 hours before the period ends.
- You can manage or cancel a subscription in your Apple Account settings. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
- Prices are shown in the app and may vary by region. Any price change will be disclosed and handled in accordance with Apple’s rules.
- Purchases are final except where a refund is required by law or granted under Apple’s refund policy (all refunds are handled by Apple).
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to: reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the app except to the extent the law permits; copy, redistribute, resell, or sublicense the curated content; or use the content to build or train a competing product or dataset.
5. Intellectual property
Argot, including its name, wordmark, design, and curated content, is owned by us or our licensors and protected by copyright and other laws. The bundled typefaces are used under their respective licences (see the in-app Acknowledgements).
6. Disclaimers and limitation of liability
The app is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind to the fullest extent permitted by law. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential loss, or any loss arising from reliance on the content. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law, including your non-waivable consumer rights.
7. Changes
We may update the app and these Terms from time to time. Your continued use after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
8. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United Arab Emirates, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules, except where mandatory consumer-protection law in your country of residence provides otherwise.
